Raindrop Applique

I’ve been playing with new yarns and techniques. I was in the local super center and they had one of the Bernat Baby Sport big balls clearanced for $4.50. If you knit, one ball makes a baby blanket. Not true for crochet.

Using the ball, I worked my first Corner to corner until the ball ran out and then I sat there looking forlornly at my close-to-finished blanket for 2 weeks while I searched for another ball. No dice. Surely I could order it. Yep.  To the tune of $17. Ouch!

After some brainstorming and asking for ideas, I came up with the idea.  Which required raindrops. I literally couldn’t find a pattern online for raindrops.

So……

Using any size yarn and a hook one size smaller than recommended.
